Watching less TV frees up so much time for other things like painting

When I started my PhD I got so stressed that I needed to find an outlet for the pressure I was under. My obvious choice would have been to watch more TV (like reality shows of people doing pretty much nothing).  But I was inspired to start painting again and I now have very little time left for TV. Before, I would typically spend anywhere from 2 to 5 hours a day watching all manner of stuff on TV and now, I find that 3 hours is enough time to finish a painting. In a short while I got over my urge to waste time in front of the tube and I have several paintings to show for it. When I can't paint I sketch my thoughts for the day and I end the day feeling that much better.
